Visa NΓ³mada (residence)
For digital nomads and location-independent freelancers
USD 4,100

Ecuador is the down-to-earth pragmatist among our locations: a US dollar economy with no currency risk, the lowest living costs in the region and a 5-year tax regime for newcomers that leaves foreign income untaxed during that window. The way in is deliberately accessible: thresholds are tied to the SBU minimum wage, and as of 2026 the income route starts at USD 1,446 a month and the investor route at USD 48,200. The roadmap after that is unusually clear: temporary residence, permanent residence after 21 months at the earliest, and naturalisation after three years of permanent residence, realistically around five years from arrival, with dual citizenship allowed. To be honest: Ecuador is Plan A, not a backup. On the way to permanent residence you may be away for no more than 90 days in total, and the residence visa alone makes you tax resident.
